Stream a drone to this server

Three routes, depending on where the video comes out of your setup.

1

SRT over 4G / 5G

Best in the air

SRT re-sends lost packets, so it survives a patchy cellular link where RTMP would stall or drop the stream. Use this for anything actually flying.

2

DJI Fly app — RTMP Custom

Easiest

In DJI Fly: Transmission → Live Streaming → RTMP → Custom. The controller or phone needs its own internet connection; the drone downlink alone is not enough.

3

RTSP payload → SRT relay

Commercial

For non-DJI commercial payloads (SIYI, Viewpro, Workswell, FLIR) that expose RTSP. Run this on the ground-station laptop or a Pi. -c copy means no re-encoding, so it runs fine on a Pi.

Which link should viewers open?

Glass-to-glass delay differs a lot by playback protocol.

~1 sWebRTC — spotters, live ops
~6–10 sHLS — sharing, many viewers
~2 sRTSP — VLC, recording

Encode at 2–4 Mbps for cellular. Uplink, not the server, is almost always the limit — a drone on 4G rarely sustains more. Keep the keyframe interval at 1–2 s, or viewers wait longer for the picture to appear.

The real stream key is only served to allowlisted networks, so it shows as <KEY> here. Publishing to rtmp://…/anything creates a matching watch page instantly — no setup needed per stream.
